Method

Tap a step to mark it done.

  1. Step 1: Pastry: Let the cream cheese and butter soften at room temperature. Blend, then stir in the flour.

  2. Step 2: Chill about 1 hour.

  3. Step 3: Shape into balls and place in tiny 1¾-inch muffin cups. Press the dough over the bottom and sides of each cup.

  4. Step 4: Filling: Beat the egg, butter, vanilla, salt and brown sugar until smooth.

  5. Step 5: Divide half the pecans among the cups. Add the egg mixture and top with the remaining pecans.

  6. Step 6: Bake at 325°F for 25 minutes, or until the filling is set.

  7. Step 7: Cool, then remove from the pans.

From the cook

Doubling the filling makes fuller cups.

What we changed or couldn’t read (2)
  • "1 tsp. sugar" is listed but not used in the method; it may be a duplicate of the brown sugar.
  • Butter for the filling is printed as "1 tsp."; the similar Pecan Gems recipe uses 1 Tbsp., so this may be a misprint.
