Method

Tap a step to mark it done.

  1. Step 1: Mix peanut butter, dates, nuts, butter and confectioners' sugar together.

  2. Step 2: Form into balls the size of a walnut. Chill thoroughly.

  3. Step 3: In a double boiler, melt chocolate chips with paraffin (or melt chocolate wafers).

  4. Step 4: When melted, turn off the heat and dip the balls in chocolate.

  5. Step 5: Place on wax-paper-lined cookie sheets and set in a cool place to harden.

From the cook

Don't use margarine that contains water, or the candies will be gooey.

What we changed or couldn’t read (1)
  • Paraffin (food-grade wax) was common in older candy recipes; many modern cooks substitute a little shortening or use candy-melt wafers.
